People-Powered Science.
Make a difference while you explore—every observation you make tells a piece of the ocean’s story. eOceans puts all those pieces together, safely and credibly.
Every observation counts — without the risk.
By the scientists behind pivotal citizen science projects like the “Great Fiji Shark Count”, “eShark Thailand” with Shark Guardian, “eManta”, “100 million sharks die every year”, global “Shark Sanctuary Evaluations” and more, we bring you the all-in-one app for citizen science and science to come together, and operate in a near real-time way.
Replacing the ‘old-way’ of paper dive logs, siloed dive log and nature logging apps that either sell your data or the data of the animals you log, eOceans is also a FREE logging app, but the data are yours and all purpose-driven rather than a free-for-all which puts sites, species, and communities at risk.
Seriously, there is one shark logging app that wants to put all the shark dive sites on a map for everyone to see. Can you imagine what shark poachers will do with that! We could not support that, which is why we built eOceans with research-grade ethics built into the design.
Join global projects and log your sightings in the eOceans app in real-time. Contribute to initiatives like eShark, eManta, eSeaTurtle, eJellyfish, and more—accepting data from anywhere in the ocean.
⛔️💙🦈 You control your data in eOceans. Unlike many apps that sell your data or make your observations open to everyone, eOceans puts you in charge—protecting species, sensitive locations, and your contributions. We know you’d hate to log a plant or animal, just to have someone harvest it later! Our app does not share the exact location of any of your observations unless you want them to have it.
The app you’ve been dreaming of.
Designed by PhD scientists, eOceans removes the bottlenecks that slow you down — so your team can focus on solutions.
Empower your project with cutting-edge data science and actionable insights to move faster and make a measurable impact.
It’s easy to get started.

Impact to date
We’ve done this together!
Over 146,000 shark sightings alone have been reported to eOceans by divers and explorers at 14,400 sites in 38 countries—data we combined and analysed to guide policy.
Our results have helped increase protection of 19.2+ million km² for over 100 species.
Our Vision
Past: Planet thrived
Future: Planet thrives
Not too long ago, lobsters were so abundant they could be gathered from the beach, codfish were so dense you could 'walk across their backs,' and sharks and whales were seen 'anywhere, at any time’.
Our mission is to be the app that helps protect and restore planetary health and value by enabling collaborations across all organizations, stakeholders, rightsholders, and decision makers.
Log your data in the eOceans app
-
Species
Log any species, with their number health (dead, alive, injured) and behaviour. This can be used, for example, to track trends in biodiversity.
-
Social values
Log any activity that is using the space — this can be used, for example, to document the socio-economic value of these spaces.
-
Threats
Log any threats — like plastic pollution, oil spills, noise, etc. This may be used, with the Species and Social values, to examine relationships between them.

Our goals:
-
eOceans automates data sharing based on the projects you’ve joined.
-
Observations from all divers, snorkelers, fishers, kayakers, hikers, scientists, and more — stitched together to tell the oceans story.
-
An app that works for all ocean explorers — scientists, fishers, First Nations, citizen scientists, and more — eOceans uniquely brings everyone together to describe ocean health.
-
Increased competition for ocean species, sites, and areas means that more data are needed to make smart decisions—don’t get left behind or forgotten.

Many people — Fisheries, NGOs, Ecotourism Operators
“eOceans offers invaluable tools for seamless data collection-to-analysis, enabling unprecedented collaboration and insights.”
Liz Ferguson, CEO, Ocean Science Analytics
“eOceans empowers us to optimize our data collection by engaging dive centres, resorts, and local communities. By maximizing our field time, we can focus on gathering insights while eOceans seamlessly manages the data processing and analysis.”
Jess Hodge, Marine Biologist, Maldives Underwater Initiative at Six Senses
“It all starts with your question. Whether you're diving, boating, fishing, or doing science, log any species, threats, and social values in real-time—eOceans gets you there faster, easier, and with greater precision.
Dr. Christine Ward-Paige, CEO eOceans
